This magnificent town house, along the side of the Monceau Park, was bequeathed in 1935 by the Earl Camondo and was inaugurated in 1936 as museum. He decided to exhibit his rich collection of decorative art works there.

This house used to be the residence of the Andrés, famous collectors who travelled Europe to acquire all the work now exhibited at the museum. In 1913, the museum was already considered as one of the Art Center in Paris.

Henri Cernuschi was a banker but also an archaic bronzes amateur. Following a two years journey in Asia, he brought back a unique work of art which he bequeathed to the city of Paris in 1896.
