Found this little "residence hotel" (each room has a kitchenette--very convenient!) online at Venere.com, after a lot of searching on various sites, including travelocity.com, orbitz.com, etc. It's tough to find a conveniently located budget hotel in downtown Paris, but I feel we did very well finding the Hotel Malesherbes. We stayed here with another couple, taking two double rooms (they had a cot brought in for their 18-yr-old son) and we were both very happy with our accommodations. The entire place is in good condition, is clean and well-decorated, and the staff are accommodating, though not everyone speaks English. The Malesherbes Metro stop is only a few blocks away and there are a multitude of local restaurants and small businesses in the area, including a well-stocked market right on the same block. We were here vacationing, although this hotel would also be perfect for a business person who is in Paris for several days, since they could fix basic meals in their room and there is local wifi at the property.
